Visit of the Minister of Transport to Klaipeda University – Focus on Innovations and Strategic Developments

On 18 July, the Minister of Transport paid an official visit to Klaipeda University. During this visit, the Minister and their delegation held discussions with the university’s Rector, Professor Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, and his team, with a central emphasis on fostering innovation and implementing strategic advancements.

Key Highlights of the Visit:

  1. Innovation & Strategic Change
    The Minister underscored the importance of advancing innovative approaches and driving strategic transformation at the university, particularly in the domains of transport, logistics, and marine technology.

  2. Strengthening Academic–Industry Cooperation
    During meetings with the university’s leadership, the potential to bolster collaboration between research, business, and government sectors was explored, with a specific focus on leveraging the scientific capabilities of the research vessel Mintis for activities such as seabed surveying, civil security, and infrastructure monitoring throughout the Baltic Sea region.

  3. Expanding National Security Initiatives
    Klaipeda University presented its plans to expand maritime research operations in the Baltic Sea, aligning with national strategic security priorities and enhancing civil monitoring systems.

  4. Formal Submission by the Vice‑Rector for Science & Innovation
    Docent Dr. Laura Šaltytė‑Vaisiauskė, the Vice‑Rector for Science and Innovation, formally presented a detailed report outlining the full potential of the university’s research vessel and related capabilities.

  5. Visit to the STEAM Methodology Centre
    The delegation visited the University’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Methodology Centre, learning about its educational initiatives designed to promote interdisciplinary learning and creative problem-solving.

  6. University Campus Development Support
    The Minister received an overview of the university campus development strategy and expressed support for its long-term vision.
