On July 10, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, visited Klaipeda University (KU) accompanied by a delegation. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine in the fields of education, science, and innovation, to discuss future partnership prospects, and to express gratitude for the university's consistent support for war-torn Ukraine.
The guests were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Laura Šaltytė-Vaisiauskė, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at KU, together with her team. During the meeting, the Ambassador and university representatives presented the strategic priorities of their respective institutions and explored collaboration opportunities in studies, academic mobility, scientific research, and innovation.
Ambassador Nikitchenko expressed her appreciation for the significant support provided by the university to the Ukrainian academic community. Since 2022, several Ukrainian professionals have been employed at Klaipeda University, actively engaged in academic and scientific activities. Currently, more than one hundred students from Ukraine are studying at KU.
Both parties emphasized their commitment to further strengthening existing initiatives and developing new forms of international cooperation aimed at rebuilding and enhancing Ukraine’s higher education system.
