The Klaipeda University (KU) Sports Center honored the university's best-performing teams and individual sport prizewinners from the 2024/2025 season.
During the event, Klaipeda University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, and Sports Center Coordinator Banga Balnaitė-Stonienė reviewed the past sporting year. The season was especially successful for the university - KU athletes delighted with numerous victories and podium finishes.
Special attention was given to the men's volleyball team, which, under the guidance of coach Oksana Jolkina, narrowly missed podium finishes both in the NSTL and SELL Games - their performance earned well-deserved respect and applause.
The men’s basketball team also brought joyful emotions - this year, they claimed bronze medals in the LSFL championship, strengthening KU’s reputation among the strongest university teams.
There was no shortage of victories in individual sports as well:

Jonas Petkus (badminton) became the runner-up at the SELL Games;

Marija Šibajeva (chess) earned medals of various calibers this year - she claimed the national championship title in Lithuania and won silver and bronze at the SELL Games;

Edvinas Norvaiša (athletics) secured bronze at the Lithuanian Students Indoor Championship in the long jump event;

Satera Balčaitytė (athletics) became the champion in the high jump event and took second place in the 60m hurdles.
A historic achievement this year belonged to the men's football team, coached by Evaldas Misiūnas - for the first time in history, the KU team became LSFL champions, securing 9 victories out of a possible 10 during the season!
The awards ceremony concluded with the return of the Latin American dance team “Danė” from the World Championship. After a successful performance at the European Championship, where they won bronze and secured a ticket to the World Championship, the team became World Vice-Champions — proving that hard work in training truly pays off.
