Support Agreement Signed: “KN Energies” Awards Scholarships to the Best Second-Year KU Engineering Students

On October 16, Klaipeda University (KU) signed a support agreement with AB KN Energies. The agreement provides targeted scholarships for second-year students in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering who have achieved the best academic results. The agreement was signed by KU Rector Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas and KN Energies CEO Darius Šilenskis.

“We are pleased with our cooperation with KN Energies—a long-term partnership that unites the university, business, and the region. This support is an investment in student progress and motivation. Engineering studies are the foundation of energy transformation and industrial digitalization, and together with our partners, KU consistently prepares specialists ready to meet future challenges. This creates value for Western Lithuania and strengthens the competitiveness of the entire country,” said KU Rector Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas.

A total of EUR 18,000 in financial support will be awarded to six students. Each recipient will receive a monthly scholarship of EUR 300 over a ten-month period. The financial incentive is granted to those who demonstrated the highest academic achievements during the previous semester.

“For the energy sector, it is vital to attract highly qualified engineers and other technical specialists who are prepared to implement Lithuania’s ambitious energy goals. To encourage the development of engineering professionals and attract new talent to the energy sector, KN Energies is, for the second consecutive year, awarding scholarships to students of engineering programs at higher education institutions in Klaipėda. We are investing in the talents who will build a more sustainable Lithuanian energy future,” said KN Energies CEO Darius Šilenskis.

Before signing the agreement, representatives discussed current topics relevant to KU and KN Energies, as well as major ongoing projects. The conversation primarily focused on KU’s Faculty of Marine Technology and Natural Sciences (MTNS), its academic staff, and students pursuing engineering studies. The Rector emphasized that Klaipeda University nurtures and continuously improves an entire ecosystem of engineering and mathematical thinking—within its Methodological STEAM Centre and the EDUTECH STEAM Laboratory. There, students develop practical skills through hands-on learning experiences essential for projects in energy, industry, and port economics. The discussion also touched on how today’s students and young professionals are changing—what motivates them, what qualities they possess, and what can be improved to encourage young talent to remain in Lithuania.

KU and KN Energies maintain a consistent collaboration implemented through curriculum development, student internships, placements, and joint applied research projects.

The discussion and agreement signing were also attended by KU Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Development Dr. Benediktas Petrauskas, Dean of the Faculty of Marine Technology and Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Viktoras Senčila, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Program Committee of the Department of Engineering Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marius Vasylius, KN Energies HR Director Irina Kabulova, and KN Energies Head of Communications Milda Ancevičė.
