This accreditation confirms that KU Botanic Garden’s activities meet the highest international standards in the fields of botanical diversity collection, publicity, research, and environmental protection.
There are currently more than 3,700 botanic gardens registered in the world, but only about 100 of them have received BGCI accreditation – KU Botanic Garden is one of them.
“The accreditation is a testimony to the efforts and groundwork of the entire staff of KU Botanic Garden in collecting and preserving biodiversity, in carrying out educational and community awareness activities, and in strengthening the University’s name in the international botanic gardens community,” said Asta Klimienė, Coordinator at KU Botanical Garden.
KU Botanic Garden has 6 main collections and 19 exhibitions with around 4,000 plant taxa.
At the moment, visitors are particularly attracted by the early-emerging magnolia flowers. The Botanic Garden calls you not to miss and take photos of the spectacular blossoms!
