To Klaipeda University, the sea is not just the crashing of waves, the cry of seagulls, or the melody of summer holidays. It is a source of inspiration and scientific discovery—a world brimming with life that connects ideas, continents, and people.
The KU community will march differently—immersed in the sounds heard only by those who explore: the echoes of archaeological discoveries, the silence of expeditions, the rhythm of data, and the voices of students. For them, the sea is not just to be admired but to be listened to—not a backdrop, but a direction. It is not only the present, but the future we shape through exploration. Leading the parade will be KU’s mobile laboratory—a symbolic, rolling marine research center. QR codes displayed on it will invite everyone—locals and visitors alike—to scan and listen to an audio story about Klaipėda and the Baltic Sea, and their shared history. “This year, we will march as a community not only celebrating but inviting people to listen,” says Inga Petrauskienė, Head of the KU Communications and Marketing Department. “Our message is one of trust in science, respect for the sea, connection to the city, and a desire to share what matters. The music we will listen to is open to everyone who wants to hear it. It is our inner rhythm, inviting all to a shared celebration.” |

KU’s participation in the Sea Festival won’t end with the parade. On Saturday, July 26, the KU team will be the first to compete in the dragon boat races on the Danė River, with their heat scheduled for 9:00 AM. This will be yet another opportunity to witness a community defined not only by knowledge, but also by strength, dynamism, and team spirit. KU invites everyone to come cheer, applaud, and be part of this moment.
