Klaipėda University – An Epicenter of International Cooperation: Erasmus+ Coordinators Meeting Held

From May 12 to 14, 2025, Klaipėda University (KU) hosted the Erasmus+ institutional coordinators meeting. The event brought together representatives from 24 higher education institutions across 12 countries – Romania, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Croatia, Albania, Latvia, France, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey, and Poland.

During the visit, guests were introduced to the university’s infrastructure and participated in meetings with faculty representatives, researchers, and students. One of the key highlights of the event was the university fair “GO ERASMUS 2025,” where representatives of partner institutions presented their universities to KU students and the academic community. It served as an excellent platform for direct dialogue, fostering student exchange, inter-institutional cooperation, and cultural understanding.

KU radiology student Valdonė, who participated in the fair, shared her impressions:

“I really enjoyed the event – it was interesting to learn about study opportunities at various European universities. I spoke with representatives from the University of Zadar (Croatia) and learned about the exchange programs they offer. Events like this are very useful – they provide an opportunity to meet representatives from foreign universities face-to-face and get answers to important questions.”

Samanta Simonavičė, Head of the KU International Relations Office, emphasized that many new partnerships were formed during the week of the meeting:

“We chose this format not only to present Klaipėda University as a reliable international partner but also to give our guests a comprehensive view of our academic community, study programs, research areas, and available resources. Such meetings help build sustainable connections with partner institutions and open new opportunities for international cooperation.”

This was the first Erasmus+ coordinators meeting of such scale hosted by Klaipėda University – a clear sign that KU is strengthening its position as an international academic center. Klaipėda University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, also shared his thoughts:

“Internationalization has always been one of the university's core strengths. It encompasses academic mobility – the opportunity for members of our community to gain experience abroad, to understand the scientific cultures of other countries, and to build lasting relationships.

The Erasmus coordinators meeting in Klaipėda was not only an important international event but also a further confirmation that Klaipėda University is firmly established in the European academic space. We are visible, valued, and our partnerships with European universities are constantly strengthening. Our involvement in the European University Alliance EU-CONEXUS is a great example of this. I’m especially pleased that our students actively participated in the event and showed interest in Erasmus opportunities – it demonstrates their motivation to take full advantage of what an international university has to offer,” the Rector proudly stated.

Currently, KU collaborates with over 200 partner universities worldwide. This meeting marks yet another important step in further strengthening international relations.
